News: European Union Stabilisation and Association Council meets in Montenegro

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, and the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, met Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazović at the Stabilisation and Association Council in Podgorica. The Council, which for the first time met in a Western Balkan country, underlined the commitment of the European Union to the integration of the region into the EU and in particular Montenegro.

The participants discussed the country’s accession strategy, while Mr Borrel and Mr Várhelyi praised Montenegro’s progress in alignment with the Union’s foreign policy.
