Albania’s long journey in the European Union

On 19 July, eight years after the submission of its  application, Albania took part in the first Intergovernmental Conference as a candidate country for the European Union. However, the negotiation process is a complex process, which will require at least a decade for its full implementation, and which already has unresolved bilateral issues.
