Innovation, start-up and youth in the Western Balkans.
Within the project " Human Capital Mobility of and from the Balkans: when innovation succeeds in reducing brain drain", financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), and carried out by CeSPI and OBCT, Francesco Martino interviewed Dejan Tonić, regional coordinator of the Star Venture program of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The program supports young and innovative companies in the Western Balkans. "I see a trend among most of the startups in the region: once they reach a certain level of development, they immediately establish an office in the developed countries they target. So, with an office out there, they take already a step out of the region" [...]. "If we don't start investing in the education of these young people, the brain drain will become inevitable."
