EU must seize the geopolitical moment in the Balkans

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has demonstrated to the European Union the strategic importance of the Western Balkans, as well as Moscow’s potential to exploit the unresolved disputes in the region to undermine the West.

EU leaders must now seize the geopolitical moment to renew the integration of the six countries into the Union, or risk seeing them used by Russia and China in their power games.
