News: Albania signed a new Agreement with Frontex

The European Union and Albania have signed a new agreement on operational cooperation in border management with the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex).

The agreement forms part of the EU Action Plan on the Western Balkans, with the aim of addressing irregular migration and cross-border crime and further strengthening security at the EU’s external borders. The new agreement updates the previous agreement of 2019, also allowing the use of the permanent Frontex corps along the Albanian borders.
