Innovation in Albania and brain drain: the role of universities

The migration of highly skilled people from several Western Balkan countries has been under observation for some time. Innovation clusters involving public authorities, private sector and academia can represent a strategy to reduce brain drain and promote local development. Jolta Kacani, a professor at the University of Tirana, was interviewed by OBCT (Balkans Caucasus and TransEurope Observatory) on this topic as part of the project " Human Capital Mobility of and from the Balkans: when innovation can stop brain drain" funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), carried out in collaboration with CeSPI.
