News: Demonstrations in Pristina against the formation of the Association of Serbian Municipalities

Pristina witnessed a spontaneous demonstration among citizens following the decision of the US Embassy to convene a meeting to discuss the formation of an Association of Serb Municipalities in Kosovo. The US decision is in stark contrast to the will of Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who stated on 30 January that he did not see the need to create the Association as desired not only by Serbia but also by international mediators. The creation of the Association was foreseen by the Brussels Agreement signed in 2013 and gives Kurti the opportunity to declare himself "not responsible" for these decisions.

The Constitutional Court also ruled against the proposal to create an executive structure parallel to that of the central government, establishing the unconstitutionality of the proposal.
