News: EU officially opened negotiations with 4 Western Balkan countries on Frontex cooperation
18 November 2022
The European Council authorised the opening of negotiations with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia to extend the Frontex cooperation agreements.
The new agreement will enable the Agency to assist the four countries in managing migration flows in order to combat illegal immigration. In addition, Frontex staff will be able to exercise executive powers, such as border controls and the registration of persons.
