News: European Commission’s Migration Report 2022. Guidelines for the Western Balkans

The 2022 Report on migration, issued by the European Commission on 6 October, focuses on the increase in arrivals on the Western Balkans route, which increased significantly during the year. In the first eight months of 2022, about 86,581 irregular crossings of migrants were detected that, through the Balkan route, try to reach European territory.

To address the emergency, the Commission has specified the need for the Balkan countries to align their visa policies with the European Union and has announced its own support in the management of the large migratory flows to the so-called states "transit".
