News: European Political Community

During the Conference on the Future of Europe held in Strasbourg on 9 May, French President, Emmanuel Macron, proposed the creation of a "new European political community" involving the countries of the Western Balkans. The new community envisages the creation of a confederation of European and non-EU states that, although not part of the European Union, adopt a policy of cooperation on economy, energy, security, transport, investment and movement of people. The new community, according to Macron, "would give new stability to the continent without unbalancing the Union".
