The recent Slovak move and the US disengagement: factors of dangerous instability for Kosovo

Slovakia's decision to restore its commitment to the NATO Kosovo Force (KFOR) by 2006, after 15 years of absence, could have significant implications for tensions between Kosovo and Serbia. Slovakia, along with Cyprus, Romania, Spain, and Greece, is one of the five EU countries that do not recognize Kosovo's independence. This factor, combined with the Trump administration's decision to withdraw 20% of US troops in Europe, raises concerns about a potential security vacuum in the Western Balkans region.
