Smederevo, a story of pollution and geopolitics

The grassroots movement "Pokret Tvrđava" has been fighting since 2018 to limit pollution from the steel mill in Smederevo, in central Serbia, owned by Chinese company HBIS. This civic mobilization involves not only local and national balances but also global ones. An interview to one of the founders has been undertaken within the project " Climate Change, Environmental Risk and Civic Mobilization in the Western Balkans" financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), in collaboration with OBCT.
