World Bank: Western Balkans must invest at least 37 billion to tackle climate change in the next decade
20 August 2024
The World Bank has published the report "Western Balkans 6 Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR)" analysing how countries in the region can implement climate adaptation policies and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while continuing their economic development. The WB report shows that WB6 economies can become climate-neutral by 2025 without compromising their growth potential, but massive investments are needed - The WB estimates that the Western Balkans will need to collectively invest at least $37 billion over the next decade to adequately protect goods and people from the damaging and impacts of climate change.
"Inaction is not an option for the region," concludes the report
