An Analysis of 200 years of Turkish-American
The paper by Aylin Ünver assesses the current issues in Turkish-American relations, by focusing on the historical background of this relationship, and on “internationalism versus isolationism” and “realism versus liberalism” in US foreign policy making.
Within this context, the paper also evaluates in detail the two states’ security concerns, their foreign policy priorities including American and Turkish interests and aims, their divergence in foreign policy approaches, and finally the changes in the international environment which might lead to areas for cooperation needed for a closer relationship between the two allies.
